LYNC performs at Toronto’s Portuguese Adventist Church and one Sean Winston Barrow captures the attention of one Sandra Maria Evora…

Memorable – there is a lot more that can be said about February 6, 2010.  It started off as a frigid winter Sabbath morning with one girl snuggled warmly in her bed and one boy warming his vocal cords in preparation to sing.  Sitting in a church pew listening to the melodious harmonies of LYNC, a mother thought of her daughter’s love of music and decided to go out on a limb, give her daughter a call, rouse her out of her bed  and risk her daughter’s wrath.  “Sandra there is an acapella group singing here at church this morning and they sound just like Take 6, you should really come to church and hear them sing”, mom said.

After some serious contemplation and ascertaining there was a vehicle in the driveway, although a little skeptical about her mother’s motives, Sandra rose from her bed and made her way to church.  As she pulled into the driveway, she could hear what she had to concede was some fine singing coming from inside the sanctuary walls.  After sitting through the church service and admittedly enjoying and being blessed by the lovely intonations of LYNC, Sandra proceeded to the church parking lot to move her vehicle when she unexpectedly encountered Sean.  Driven by what some would say is fate, Sandra approached Sean and said “Hi, I don’t want to sound like a groupie or anything but you really look familiar”, so after a few rounds of “Where did you go to school?” and “Where did you grow up?”, it was established that Sandra was childhood friends with Sean’s  cousin Nigel. For a few moments, the crisp cold air enveloped these two as they continued their conversation and then a gust of wind brought them to reality and a quick exchange of contact information; the beginning of where amazing happens…

The recipe for the next level of relationship was created: a dash of cold weather, a pinch of motherly intuition, a cup of childhood friendship and a spoonful of acapella music that went straight to the heart.  As I said, memorable – there is a lot that can be said about February 6, 2010.
